Where is Reality?

Imagine the vast panorama of the known universe, trillions of galaxies, untold numbers of planets, vast possibilities of life scattered to the far reaches of existence – And this is just THIS reality – Imagine that everything, all of which we can know, is a reflection of a higher dimension, which is of itself a reflection of yet another higher dimension.

This is what the ancients claim. We are at the lowest end of the wave of creation, the bottom of the ocean of being.

The Vedas talk about us all living in Maya, or illusion. Perhaps so, but most of us choose the blue pill - Most of us choose to pursue pleasure and therefore feel pain – so clearly, we do not believe the world is maya, or empty mist.

We find people all over the internet ask the question: What is our reality? Are we living in a simulation? There is discussion over physics, religion, politics, all about what our reality might be.

But I ask: Where is our Reality?

I perceive this physical world as but ONE reality. Not as a multiverse, per se, but as an experience. Our emotions, they have their reality, as does our mind, as does our memories. Which begs the question – as we know all of these things are REAL, WHERE is our focus? WHERE is the focus of YOUR Reality?

The ancient adage goes: Where our attention and attitude go, there is where we find our reality.

Michael Talbot, is his magnificent book, “The Holographic Universe” postulates that everything already exists, and that it is our attention and focus that draws it from the holographic NOW of EVERYTHING.

This is a scientist who experienced out of body experiences as a child, and rather than repress it, or rationalize it, he explored the possibility of a malleable reality. Just as the double slit experiment proved that observation affects reality, he postulates that our awareness, our BEING, determines the polarity and nature of our existence.

Bringing this to earth, if I am driving along in my car, I have many alternative realities open to me. I can live in a place where the price of fuel and the cost of living is a terrible burden. I can live in a world of rush and hurry, needing to get to my destination and missing the moment. I can live in the past, dreaming of the things I could have been. Or, I can choose to be here, now, enjoying the drive – watching the hills in the distance, seeing the beauty of this world.

Every choice we make determines our reality. WHERE we place ourselves in consciousness, this determines our reality. And in the end, we will come to grasp, that the only place that choice exists, the only place our reality exists, is Here and Now.

Are we faster than light?

Life offers us an extraordinarily array of possibility, an endless stream of different becomings. But as to what we ARE, this is a deeper question. I would ask you to give some thought to the notion that only within our imagination does it condense. Only in our imagination can we perceive a new reality, and find a path to its door.

And today when I woke, my imagination had an odd consideration – perhaps we are all moving faster than light?

Then I saw it was not an odd thought, but a concrete reality. Our present existence is flying through a vast universe of possibility, yet it all is HERE. NOW. Which, I might add, is Einsteins definition of Light Speed – where all is local, including time and space.

Quantum Mechanics argues this notion, but really, theories are one thing, reality another. One thing all agree on, we are moving at a tremendous rate of knots. And given that an electron is believed to orbit an atom at the speed of light, every time it moves in the direction of our travel, it is exceeding the speed of light.

Ever thought about that?

Our science tells us we are on an arm of a milky way that is rotating at a vast speed, in a universe expanding at an ever-increasing rate, but in relation to what?  Perhaps we are already travelling faster than light, but as all our atoms are having the same experience we experience nothing but our falling through the cosmos. We believe we are what we perceive – yet the light of our being is travelling within a Matrix that is itself moving at a vast, unimaginable, speed. It looks “normal” only in relation to the observers within it.

And perhaps those galaxies are not at unimaginable distances from us – perhaps the speed of their rotation through existence is what gives the red shift that tells us they are so distant? Perhaps the entire physical universe is ALL travelling faster than the speed of light, and all we need do to realize this is to drop out.

Maybe that is all a black hole is, a dropping out of light speed. It is not a maw yearning for ever more matter to fill an insatiable desire – but a drop off point. Perhaps it is not gravity that is compressing everything, but the effect of inertia as we slow to a zero point.

Have you ever considered that consciousness, that spark of awareness, is the ONLY thing not travelling at the speed of light? Have you considered that finding consciousness is the path we take to drop free of the endless rotation of existence?

Perhaps the answer is not in reaching ever outwards, but allowing ourselves to fall inwards?

Psycho or Spiritual?

The ancients say we are Soul, the undifferentiated aspect of the one true state. We, as Soul, possess the individual spark of divinity within. We, as Soul, are a reflection of God itself.

Then I look at the news.

It is hard enough to grasp we all share the same undifferentiated source, let alone accept what people do with it, and why – We see political opposition, absurd laws, corrupt officials, and angry people everywhere.

It is fair to say that there is a confusion at the heart of things. But it is also fair to say that the source of most confusion, suffering, and pain starts with a child not receiving love. I am yet to meet a problem adult who did not grow up believing in their heart that one of their parents did not love them. I am not saying this is how it was, only that it is what that child believed.

This creates a kernel of anger, a resentment, and a core belief that life is not our friend.

Then I look at a dog – its endless optimism, loyalty, and love. Its father didn’t care about it. Once past needing milk, its mother pretty much left it alone. But give it a home and someone to love, and that dog will love you.

Love you, love you, love you.

Children are not dogs. It takes years for us to be independent and able to survive. We need our parents, our society, to live. Plus, we have an imagination. We can, and do create stories in our minds. We imagine we will grow and become heroes or heroines, but sadly, often find ourselves zeroes sucking on the heroin of our addiction, our need to be loved.

And the kernel of anger grows, burning in the gut, stewing in the mind, casting every memory in the form of resentment.

Letting go of that anger means we rise above our past, but most let go of their past WITH anger – that is where we find psychopaths – people who learned to be detached from their emotions, and because of this, in charge. No one can hurt you now.

So, is detachment a form of psychopathy?

The ancients speak of Jivan Mukti – spiritual freedom – as the path forward. A dog knows this instinctively – it does not lament the past, it experiences NOW.  It does not burden itself with what could have been, if only, it just lives NOW – and it only wants to love you.

That is the Spiritual Path, the way of freedom.

The difference between psychopathic and spiritual is threefold: The level of acceptance, the level of understanding, plus a sense of compassion - it is the last bit that transforms. The first two are traits of the psychopath, the last one is what alters this to a spiritual purpose.

Compassion itself is a combination of three main elements - Insight, knowledge, and a sense of goodwill to all. It is not passive, it is a verb, an action. Compassion is like a dog that wants to go walk in the rain because it loves life SO much that even rain is wonderful.

Compassion is not a mindset, it is a way of being that becomes our mindset. The compassionate state is a thing we choose to BECOME, but it is not mindless. We can see the negatives in another, we can see the political differences we share, but compassion allows this.

Yet it retains the obvious.

Would you let a thief into your house, or let your family be harmed? No. Your acceptance and understanding of another does not ignore their capacity to harm you or your loved ones. True spiritual understanding has a line that divides the personal from the impersonal.

Detached kindness, not suicidal empathy, in other words.

Detached kindness gives us perspective. With a deep compassion we can see the turning of the seasons, the changing of the tide, the shifting of perspective, as the natural things they are.  The psychopath has, at heart, a need to control. The psychopath cannot be free to enjoy the moment, because they need to be sure it is safe. This is based in anger, fear, lust, attachment, vanity – all the usual suspects – some negative emotion is driving them.

The person choosing the spiritual path is choosing to resolve these energies within, and dissolve the effect of their negatives, rather than control them.

In the end, you must either dissolve the negatives in your life, or control them. This simple option forms the sum of your choices, and we need little imagination to understand that dissolving them is best.

The Master Principle

If you want to learn carpentry, you learn from a master carpenter. If you want to rebuild engine, you learn from a master mechanic. Yes, you may figure out how to do it without training, but it is obvious you are better off with guidance.

The same holds for every endeavor, but especially with the spiritual. Why so? It is very easy to get lost or distracted in the far country, where we go in dreams and after we die. An example is my very Catholic mother, who some years after she passed away got to my house, saying, “Thank goodness I found you!”.

It was a “really there” dream, she came in, I made her a cup of tea, and we chatted about nothing. Then I woke and understood, she had left the Catholic Heaven and was looking for her family.

This was brought to light recently, I am travelling on the inner planes, and I need to get back to my son’s house. I knew the general direction, but in driving along I had no road map. In the dream I was wondering how to get there. That was when I woke.

It struck me - the importance of having a guide. Having a soul we can call on who can assist us finding our way. I must backtrack, one of the turning points between my mither and myself was seeing her walking around the orphanage where she was raised, hand in hand with one of my teachers. He looked a little like Jesus, and the irony struck me, she confused the Tibetan with Jesus.

But because she HAD a master - and it doesn’t matter the name we call them – she had someone to call to help her find her family. Think of it, without a road map or a guide, how can you find your way in a strange land?

We all need someone to help us connect the dots. In the Pythagorean tradition, the “go to” guide is Orpheus – the one who in myth found his way from the dead to the living. I have a few inner guides, but he is the one who has brought me through the Eleusinian Mysteries to bring you the knowledge and the practice of Harmonic Healing.

The guiding light is there for all – we only have to leave the closed mind, and light the lamp of intuition, and await their presence. It may come as a dog, or a partner, or a teaching, but there is something for us, a guiding presence, that will take us to where we need to go.

Trust this. Focus on this. Start by looking for the light, often as a soft moon or a point of light, and listening or the sound, often heard as a thin tone in and around the ears, or as any of the classically known tones of God, such as a chorus of violins, an orchestra of crickets, a single note of a flute, or the sound of a high, keen wind.

In John 3:8 Jesus said the wind blows where it wishes, this is what he was talking about. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Catch the wind, hear its melody – this is the destiny of all born of spirit. But our nature rarely can sustain itself at such a fine level. When you get dropped off in some forsaken desert, it pays to have someone you can call, to show you the way to the oasis.

Look for inner certainty. Not outer accolade.

Play

I have always had the understanding that true spiritual understanding, and the greater depth of wisdom, is found int he childlike heart.

If you cannot play, if you cannot delight in the morning rain, or a summer breeze, then you are trapped by some imaging that you are a serious thing.

The recommendation is to stop it - stop it, and learn to play again.
